RhythmRise helps make drum circles accessible for everyone.
Our focus is supporting schools whose students face significant socio-economic adversity.
RhythmRise provides schools with the tools to establish & maintain their own drum circles. This includes authoring educational guides, donating purchased & homemade drums, and partnering with communities to make & donate their drums.
All of this is easily sustainable. Our goal is to keep sharing far & wide for maximum impact, for many years to come!
Participation in drum circles can provide tangible therapeutic benefits, including: Increased emotional regulation, focus, & social connectedness; and decreased stress, anxiety levels, & depression symptoms.
The rhythmic drumming stimulates neural synchronization & triggers endorphin release, engaging the brain’s reward & stress-regulation centers. This helps promote a healthier balance in the nervous system & supports improved emotional resilience.
We volunteer to lead drum circles with youth in our local community.
It is so much fun to experience first-hand the happiness these kids feel while taking part in these structured activities.
And it's inspired us to reach beyond.
Next, we pondered: What's more impactful and scaleable than simply leading our own drum circles?
We created a 50-page how-to guidebook to help others become confident drum circle facilitators.
We've started by partnering with Newark Public Schools, the largest school district in our state of NJ, where our instructional tools are now being utilized.
Drum Circle Guide available to all, here.
Next, we pondered: How can drum circles happen if schools don't have access to instruments?
To date, we have personally purchased and donated brand new drums for use by up to 500 students across one K-8 elementary school.
Funds earned through teaching private music lessons.
Next, we pondered: How can we make donating drums sustainable and realistic, given the high purchasing cost?
We figured out that by creating our own drums, we can can cut the expense by 66% - which allows us to serve 66% more students!
To date, we have personally made drums that are being donated to another K-8 school for use by up to 500 students.
Next, we pondered: How can we encourage others to want to make drums? Since the more drums being made, the more students benefit.
We created a 50-page guidebook - based on a lot of research, trial and error - showing how fun & easy it is for anyone & everyone to get involved!
Here is our guidebook to drum-making, affordably & awesomely!
Now, we're pondering: How do we scale up the production of homemade drums, exponentially and with longevity, to help make the greatest possible impact for students & schools?
The answer is a beautiful one: By bringing communities together, for the collective purpose & joy of making drums, for the enjoyment & benefit of fellow communities.
